About us

A safe workplace starts with people who feel well

Workplace Wellbeing Solutions helps organisations across Bhutan care for the whole person at work: body, mind and relationships. We believe that when people feel valued, connected, recognised, purposeful and supported, they work safely, work well together and want to stay.

Our story

Workplace Wellbeing Solutions began in a training room

Our company, KW Institute of Technology and Professional Learning (ITPL) in Thimphu, specializes in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training. In just one year, ITPL has trained more than 1,200 people across Bhutan, and that number keeps growing. Our participants learn to identify hazards, use protective equipment, prevent accidents and respond to emergencies. We are proud of that work, and of every worker who goes home safely because of it.

But in those training rooms, we kept noticing what the safety checklist could not see.

A worker can wear the right helmet, follow every procedure and pass every inspection, and still carry stress, worry or exhaustion into work each morning. They may feel overlooked by their supervisor, disconnected from their team or unsure where to turn when life gets hard. None of this appears on a hazard register. Yet it affects concentration, safety, performance and, in the end, whether people stay.

Three colleagues standing together and sharing a laugh

We came to a simple conclusion: health and safety at work is not only physical. Social and emotional wellbeing is part of it too, and it deserves the same care and attention.

This is increasingly how the world sees it. In many countries, for example, workplace health and safety laws require employers to manage psychosocial hazards, such as work stress and poor workplace relationships, alongside physical ones.

That conviction met a long-held hope. Two of our directors, based in Perth, Western Australia, studied Social Work and Development Studies. For years, they talked about bringing a program home to Bhutan that would make a real difference in people’s lives and contribute to our national goals, including our country’s vision of Gross National Happiness. They understood that a nation’s wellbeing is shaped in its workplaces, where people spend so much of their lives.

Workplace Wellbeing Solutions is where those two journeys meet: ITPL’s practical, on-the-ground experience in Bhutanese workplaces, and our directors’ grounding in social work, community development and international practice.

Today, we work alongside government agencies, corporations and businesses to build workplaces where people feel valued, connected, recognised, purposeful and supported. Our programs are preventive and practical, designed for Bhutanese workplaces and culture, and delivered by trusted facilitators from Bhutan and our affiliates in Australia and India.

Our belief remains simple. When people feel well, they work safely, work together and want to stay. That is good for employees, good for organisations and good for Bhutan.
